All I Want Is a Christmas and the accompanying lyric video were inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic and the social impact it has had on society. Songwriter Fred Claridge reflects on last year’s “cancelled Christmas” and the fact that, for many, life in the run up to this Christmas is still feeling increasingly isolating. These themes are paired with a jovial look at certain billionaires (not naming any names, of course) choosing to spend their money on a space race rather than more important things like vaccination of populations in developing countries or the impending climate disaster. The song was recorded entirely at home by multi-instrumentalist Fred Claridge when he found himself isolated due to catching COVID-19 in October 2021.
All proceeds from the release will go to The Lowdown, a youth mental health providing free and confidential cancelling, emotional well-being and sexual health and LGBTQ support services for 11-25 year olds in Northamptonshire. Originating from Northampton, Sourced. are so pleased to be able to support this amazing charity.
